  1. THE TRUSTEES ARE ELECTED BY THE PUBLIC. AS ARE THE SELECTMEN ,LIBRARY TRUSTEES BUDGIT COMMITEE, TRUSTEES OF TRUST FUNDS ZONING/PLANINING /PLANING BOARD AND, SO ON.THEY R NOT APPOINTED LIKE THOSE ON THE HERITAGE COMMITEE AMONG THIER OWN MEMBERS.
I BELEVE MRS NICKERSON POINT IS THAT PASSAGE OF ARTICLE 38 WILL COST THE TAX PAYERS A LOT MORE MONEY! OR AS THE TOWN MANAGER STATED ON MONDAY (A BOAT LOAD MORE MONEY) U HAVE MISSED THE POINT! THERE IS 1 OPEN SEAT FOR CEMETERY TRUSTEE EVERY YEAR IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE CURRENT BOARD THAN YOU OR, ANY OTHER RESIDENT MAY FILE TO RUN FOR THAT SEAT IF THIS ARTICLE 38 PASSES THAT WILL NO LONGER BE THE CASE!!

  2. In response to Sandra Nickerson’s concern over who will be taking care of the cemeteries; Article 38 will allow voters a voice to determine if the town is better served with or without the Trustees. If it is voted to eliminate the Cemetary Trustees, it will become the Town Manager’s duty to oversee the Cemetary Superintendent and employees. It would be up to him (and the selectmen and voters) to determine issues regarding management and policy of the cemeteries. It is a question of accountability. Currently, the trustees operate as they please, without having to be accountable to anyone and without any oversight. Day to day operations would be able to remain as they are.

  3. I have read thru all the articles for both Town, Hampton School Board and Winnacunnet. I am concerned with #38 on the Town’s warrant. If the Cemetery Trustees are voted out, who do you think will be working in the cemetery? The Public Works Department Employees will have to mow the grass, plow the cemetery roads, and probably dig the graves??? Our Public Works Department is already very lown on staff and they have not had a contract, COLA increase for the past 4 years.

I am concerned with the SESPA warrant article – if approved by the voters or turned down by the voters, it will still have to go back to the bargaining table for the Teams to pound out a contract. Binding arbitration is exactly that, anything in the contract that is arbitratible will quite possible cost money, other than COLA.

Regarding the petition article on withdrawal – the total cost in the first year which is 2011 will be over $724,000. I have added $10,000 for negotiations because right now the cost is split with 6 districts. On our own, we will absorb the total price. You can find the cost of this withdrawal within the pages of the withdrawal plan.
